Overview Believing God to be the Creator and Sustainer of life, we desire to teach the creative arts and develop within each student the skill, knowledge, and understanding of the arts for the praise and glory of God. We encourage standards of excellence, service to God and man, and the search for truth, goodness, and beauty within the arts. Knowing God has uniquely gifted each of our students, Licking County Christian Academy`s Fine Arts teachers give students creative experiences and opportunities to grow, use, and appreciate their gifts in choral and instrumental music, drama, and art. There are various performances throughout the year, including the State BCSO Fine Arts Tournament for the elementary, junior high, and high school, Christmas dramas, Band and Orchestra competition, and many singing opportunities. Visual Arts Art students at Licking County Christian Academy explore God`s order and beauty found in the elements and principles of design. They are challenged with design projects and thereby learn that art is a problem solving activity. In addition to this, each grade is exposed to different levels of art and uses ideas from the classical masterpieces of art as springboards to creativity. Students begin with the basics of art and build on them in areas of drawing, painting, and mixed media. Most importantly, students learn that whatever they do should glorify God. Art is currently offered in 1st-6th grade. Drama Our focus in drama is not only to develop skills in voice, movement, and characterization on stage, but chiefly to reflect God in our creativity and to glorify Him in our work ethic. We strive for excellence, seek to assume personal responsibility, and endeavor to put the good of the acting company ahead of individual gratification. Each spring the Drama Department puts on a full-cast production for the community. Here are a number of the Drama Productions that LCCA has produced: Miracle Worker, The Matchmaker, Oliver Twist, Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, Meet me in St. Louis, The Hound of the Baskervilles, M'Liss My Western Miss, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Our Hearts, Annie Jr., Tale of Two Cities, Treasure Island, The Happiest Millionaire, The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Nit Wits, and Tattle Tales. Music Music students at LCCA learn that music is first and foremost a gift from God that was given to glorify God and edify man. With respect to God’s glorification, students learn that music should reflect God’s beauty, his organization, and his goodness. With respect to man’s edification, students learn that through diligent study, God’s musical gift helps us to see who God is and to enjoy his creation for his glory. Students at LCCA are offered continuous practical instruction in technique, theory, and performance. In addition to strengthening skills, students also gain appreciation of selected master works of beauty and the gifted composers and musicians who created them. |
